Course Description:

This course introduces the participants to the basic principles of projects and project management. We will look at the various stages in the project life cycle and discuss the activities that are expected of the project manager at each stage.

Course Objectives:

  • Terms used in project management (i.e. project, project life cycle, project objectives, etc.)
  • Project management processes (i.e. financing, brief writing, design management, project procurement, site and builder selection, etc.)
  • Relationships within projects (teams, client relationships, marketing of services, etc.)
  • Methods of project control and dispute management
  • Costs associated with building occupancy and the role of the property manager
