Description:
This
course covers key aspects of research and written communication
in academic and professional design and planning contexts, as well
as working to develop participants' skills in oral communication.
Participants engage in collaborative learning activities throughout
the semester in order to develop their teamwork skills and their
ability to articulate the practises that lead to successful collaboration.
Through ongoing reflection in a Study Journal on activities from
their core units in the Faculty of the Build Environment, Art and
Design, participants will further develop their written communication
skills.
Course
Objectives:
- Able
to access information for research purposes, particularly using
electronic media, such as library databases, electronic databases
and the internet
- Read
and critically evaluate texts appropriate to university study
- Reference
your written work using the Harvard system
- Develop
sound, logical arguments in both written and oral work
- Make
formal written and oral presentations in clear, concise English
- Use
the conventions of written essays and/or reports
- Present
written documents in an appropriate professional format
- Work
collaboratively with others and be able to articulate practices
that lead to successful teamwork
