Course Description:

This course introduces participants to the basic principles of measuring and billing building work in accordance with recoginsed industry standards. A manual (written) method of recording measurement is used for teaching purposes. Some of the exercises are repeated later to demonstrate applcation of computer programs to measure, bill and price projects.

Course Objectives:

• Achieve an understanding of the Australian Standard Method of Measurement of Building Works
• How to approach and measure building work using various sources of information, e.g. drawings, specification notes and prior examples
• How to describe various building elements for pricing (e.g. by contractors for tendering)
• Building contruction and building terms learned through measurement
